Random Fact

Hey guys! Sorry, kinda forgot about you tonight. Let's see...hmmm...I know! Random fact of the day:

A marathon is 26.2 miles. The reason why we call it a marathon is because of the Greeks. In the Battle of Marathon against the Persians, the Greeks sent a messenger all the way from Marathon, Greece to Athens, Greece to announce their victory. The messenger ran the whole 26 miles to Greece. When he arrived, he shouted, "Nike!" which means "Victory!" in Greek, and then dropped dead of exhaustion. Nike is also a famous shoe company. Today some runners shout "Nike!" as they're crossing the finish line.

We learned that today in Social Studies. So cool! If I ever run a marathon, I'm gonna shout "Nike!" when I cross the finish line. Haha that's it!

Yours,
Megan ;)
